Monkeys of Adventure

4-2-2003  Last week during spring break I visited Universal’s Islands of Adventure with my girlfriend (who courageously rode all the roller coasters with me, hooray :-)  That trip gave me an idea for a new theme park: Monkeys of Adventure.

Every roller coaster I’ve been on first travels up a steep incline.  When it gets to the top, it starts its descent (through loops and rolls), and the fun begins.  But what if, as someone is riding a roller coaster to the top of its steep incline, their restraining harness/bar came loose!  The thought of flying off the roller coaster would probably really freak the person out!  Then a monkey could pop out of nowhere and say, “Ha!  Ha!  You’re the one with the broken harness this time!”  You see, on each roller coaster (and other thrill rides), a random person’s restraining harness/bar would seem like it came loose.  Of course it would still really work, but it would sure seem like it came loose.  That’s what I call a thrill ride!

Also, to ensure Monkeys of Adventure would be the most thrilling, scary theme park in the world, roller coasters there would have jumps, where a section of the track would be missing.  The roller coaster would be completely airborne until it completed the jump and got back on track.  Of course, that thrill would involve monkeys too, like they could try to push the roller coaster while it was in the air so it would fall to the ground instead of completing the jump and getting back on track.

All the really scary, thrilling stuff at Monkeys of Adventure wouldn’t be advertised, so then it would be even more of a surprise for park goers.  Measures would be taken (somehow) to make sure all of the rides would be just as safe as usual, despite the monkeys.  Unfortunately, a drawback might be that kids would become afraid of monkeys.
